We instinctively want to protect our views even if they are false. After all, it is embarrassing to concede that you have erred.

To cope with this threats to our personal egos, our brain tries to ignore other theories and misinterpret evidence. We retrieved any possible information to support our views.

We try so hard to believe false information when we should be happy to be corrected.
