Unexpected Phenomenon

An odd one out causes a disproportionate effect on statistical results.

A single financial catastrophe blows all the economic predictions.

A single crime committed by a certain sub ethnic group proselytizes our perceptions bias. 

We like to see the world through the dominant lens of normalcy while ignoring the possibility of ongoing changes that are building up waiting to emerge at the right time, when we are caught off-guard. We can’t deny that outliers are among us.
